Presidents Day

" Presidents Day"

1. President's Day is a day where we honor and remember the famously known presidents, like Abraham Lincoln and George Washington. We take a moment of silence to remember the tragedy, war, and the great achievements that these presidents faced. No matter if they ere in the past or the present, we all liked to honor them and be grateful for them.

2. President's Day was originally established in 1885 in recognition of President George Washington's birthday, by the federal government. His actual birthday is on the 22 of February, and it became popular know as the Presidents Day after it was moved as part of 1971's  Uniform Monday Holiday Act. And the mid 1800's Washington's Birthday was known to many Americans as Presidents Day.

The districts alone they show their respect and honor by giving the day of to students, staff, teachers, and etc.. so they can celebrate the holiday of remembrance. Other ways to honor are to say the pledge of allegiance, fly a flag, learn about their history, participate in events, and  visit some cites where they display the remembrance.

4. I can show honor and respects by learning about the history, pledge of allegiance, and participate in the events to honor and respect the holiday. I can also help inform others on why this holiday is to be celebrate and why we have to celebrate it and show honor and respect. Because to me I like informing others on the importance of things I believe in and think are worthy.

" Act well your part, there all honor lies." - Alexander Pope

In my personal opinion I agree with this quote on a certain level because its right don't get me wrong. People who choose to be a CTR person have to have the following traits that make a good person and one of those traits are honor and honesty. When you follow or live by these traits then you would make an impact or a change that will have an effect not only on you but on others around you. For instance the little league baseball team they failed and they cheated the rules in secret. they didn't only hurt themselves by having that in their record of them being disqualified for cheating, but made their city look bad and their parents loose their jobs. They choose the wrong and lead to consequences. Another example is when the little boy gave back he twenty dollars to the solider with a note saying why he did and it changed him to do good . And let him to believe that he should do the same as the little boy and help other people like he did to him.

Valentines Day

Every year on the 14th of February, we celebrate Valentines day where we exchange gifts and chocolates and celebrate our bf/gf/wife/husband/lover. It all leads back to a man named St. Valentine and how he was very mysterious, and only legends are told. On legend says that back in the  third century in Rome, and emperor named Claudius II. He decided that single men were better soldiers than those with families and wives, so he outlawed marriage for young men. And valentine found what he did to be injustice so he continued to perform marriages in secret. but once, the emperor found out he was put to death. Another legend has it that Valentine was imprisoned and actually sent the first "valentine"  greeting himself after he fell in love with a young lady . He would write at the end of the letter from your Valentine, before his death. An the death of Valentine is the day we celebrate to remember him and to spread the tradition of what he did. we also think that it should be the day of romance as well because its the beginning of birds mating season. Valentine greetings were popular as far back in the Middle ages, but it is said that the written Valentines didn't appear till after 1400. it wasn't  as popular till the 17th century but in 18th century all classes start to exchange small tokens of love and letters and presents to their valentines. And till this day we carry on th tradition across the world.

"Associate yourself with men of good quality of you esteem your own reputation; for tis better to be alone than in bad company."-George Washington

I personally agree with him but not the whole alone part because there are good  people in the world. Now I'm not saying only hang out with good people 100% and not be alone. Its good to get away form everything and think for your self when your not worried about other's opinions all the time. For instance, if you go out with your friends and you guys are all alone and you know what ever you guy's do no one will  know because you guys were not supervised. And you or your friend says hey lets get a drink and you or they influence you easily and so you guys drink and drink and drink. That's bad and that's wrong because you can get yourself in trouble. Another good example is when you guys go out with a parent or guardian and you guys are behaving your selves and not doing anything stupid. That's goo and you are associating with good people and that helps you and them. At the end of the day you decide who you want to socialize with and whether or not its the right option. Also, try to predict what will happen next if you can so you know what to do or getting yourself into. Try to choose the right at least 84% of the time and sometimes think for yourself and enjoy it because you only live once. And reputation comes with every thing you do its like a package, you get the whole thing.

"Right is right only when entire."-Victor Hugo

In my personal opinion he is sort of speaking the truth and I agree but on a certain level when you are honest it might hurt others. For instance, when they ask you for your honest opinion and everyone is on the same side but you then it might lead to a heated  discussion that will end up in hurting the other person or even you, only because you were honest. In those situations its best to agree with majority but to stick to your true thinking or you can keep it to yourself. But when your honest like on a test or like in s situation that you know won't hurt anyone but yourself then okay you have to be right because you are owning up to your mistakes and your dishonesty. An example to this is when you say," oh yeah,... I ....Hhhhhavvvven't smoked in two or was it three years." When you know you just had a smoke a couple of hours ago and it was your first some from two years ago going on three. You were honest but not entirely honest. Another example is when lets say you tell everyone around you I never done drugs before not even once, but you did and you just lied to everyone. It wasn't much but some is some. So you see in these two situations you were lying and that isn't right. Another example, is when you know that you did something right but at the same time you know what will happen if you tell, you will get in trouble. And f you tell you are doing what is right and owning up to it. So choose the right 86% of the time and the other 14% go with your instincts and know when have to keep it to your self so you don't hurt anyone.

"If you do what's right, IF you live the right way, you'll be taken care of." - Rachel Castillo

I don't understand she means by taken care because I'm not religious but, I do agree with doing the right thing the right way. As my parents have taught me that you should always take a step back and think about what you are doing and determine whether its right or its wrong. And if it would hurt anyone around you or how would it make others feel? For instance, if I want to tell someone hey you look beautiful or handsome today in a nice tone with a smile and let them know that in the nicest way possible what they are doing is wrong then they will have a higher chance of changing it. Instead of doing the opposite and saying hey in an aggressive tone with sarcasm and saying you are doing an awful job and you are a cheater you are dumb you cant do anything. In this situation then you would have chosen to do what's wrong and you are below the line. When at the end of the day it could of been preventable if they would of thought about what and how they were going to tell them and approach the situation and looked for a better outcome. Lastly, instead of saying you would be taken care of, in my eyes and mindset I believe go things would come to you. Like in the original story she could of kept the money but instead turned it in and now they think of her as a good person and someone they trust a lot.

"In life as in football, you won't go far, unless you know where the goalposts are"- Arnold H. Glasgow

In my personal opinion Arnold is right because he is using symbol figurative language. Where the goalposts in a game are a symbol of the end mark of that time period of success that you were working hard to achieve. For instance, in an actual game of soccer or any given sport you work hard, you sweat, and make plays so you can score, to show all your blood and sweat has payed off. And if you score then chances are that you are going to want to score another goal because you like the feeling of it so you do it all again. But the other team knows a bit more of how you play so they make it more challenging for you to score another goal on them. And that's when you change the plays around and learn new strategies and new ways to score the goal. Another example is the opposite where you don't have a given goal short or long term and you just go with the flow and go through the task or life with not mindset of a goal. Which can lead to failure or success, mainly failure.  But as Arnold H. Glasgow states in his quote that you can go far if you don't know where the goalposts are. And he is right so choose the right and stay on the path to success.
